Get some water. Get some air. You're a plant.
The title of this post is a saying that I believe originates with a colleague of mine. The reason I'm using it here is twofold.
1) I want to put it out there that I work with amazing people in all of my jobs/pursuits. This is rare and it won't last forever but while I've been keeping a grueling schedule, there's joy and inspiration at every turn and I'm so appreciative for my current situation.
2) I have to recognize that I'm just an organism and one who's not so young that I don't get tired or burnt out. maintenance itself is work and rest is productive if done correctly.
One of my favorite anythings from when I was a kid was this:
My brain is full a lot these days, i'm not sleeping great, i'm not eating great, and I've not been exercising the way that I should. I WAS able to get out to see some glorious foliage and hike and i'm so grateful for that. This was restorative and I need to schedule in this kind of stuff.
Of late, I've been working on some course work to (FINALLY!) finish my masters degree. The classes are awesome (FINALLY) and tangentially related to some of the other stuff that I intend to really write about in this blog. Still, time and attention are finite and I'm feeling like i'm spreading myself thin.
Aside from that, I decided to buy a course by Adrian Cantrill to help me with the AWS study and it's money well spent. I appreciate the thoroughness and I especially appreciate that he stresses that certs without works won't get a you a job and are kind of meaningless. He's got some projects for students to work through and I have a few of my own ideas for down the line.
Vague update for now. Still just getting up each day and filling my brain and trying to let sleep filter and do its garbage collection with whatever's there.
I need to remember to get some water and some air along the way. Literally and metaphorically. A little Bach will help too. B-minor mass this weekend and, again, thankful for what's available to me.
